چکیده

In a confining, renormalisable, Dyson-Schwinger equation model of two-flavour QCD we explore the chemical-potential dependence of the dressed-quark propagator, which provides a means of determining the behaviour of the chiral and deconfinement order parameters, and low-energy pion observables. We find coincident, first order deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration transitions at μc = 375MeV. fπ is insensitive to μ until μ ≈ μ0 . = 0.7μc when it begins to increase rapidly. mπ is weakly dependent on μ, decreasing slowly with μ and reaching a minimum 6% less than its μ = 0 value at μ = μ0. In a two-flavour free-quark gas at μ = μc the baryon number density would be approximately 3ρ0, where ρ0 = 0.16 fm ; while in such a gas at μ0 the density is ρ0.

Flavor Polyakov–Nambu–Jona-Lasinio Model at Finite Temperature and Nonzero Chemical Potential

We extend the Polyakov-loop improved Nambu–Jona-Lasinio (PNJL) model to 2+1 flavor case to study the chiral and deconfinement transitions of strongly interacting matter at finite temperature and nonzero chemical potential. The Polyakov-loop, the chiral susceptibility of light quarks (u and d) and the strange quark number susceptibility as functions of temperature at zero chemical potential are ...

We present arguments suggesting that large size overlapping instantons are the driving mechanism of the confinement-deconfinement phase transition at nonzero chemical potential μ. The arguments are based on the picture that instantons at very large chemical potential in the weak coupling regime are localized configurations with finite size ρ ∼ μ. At the same time, the same instantons at smaller...

We study the response of meson masses to the chemical potential (∂m/∂µ) at high temperature and at zero chemical potential on N f = 2 lattice with staggered fermions. Preliminary results for the meson composed of different quarks show that ∂m/∂µ|µ=0 is negative in the confinement phase and positive in the deconfinement phase.

Constraining the QCD phase diagram by tricritical lines at imaginary chemical potential.

We present unambiguous evidence, from lattice simulations of QCD with three degenerate quark species, for two tricritical points in the (T, m) phase diagram at fixed imaginary chemical potential μ/T = iπ/3 mod2π/3, one in the light and one in the heavy mass regime. These represent the boundaries of the chiral and deconfinement critical lines continued to imaginary μ, respectively. It is demonst...

The Chiral and Deconfinement Phase Transition in QCD

The phase diagram of strongly interacting matter is one of the most exciting subjects of modern particle physics. While QCD lattice calculations become more and more realistic at vanishing chemical potential, their predictive power at finite chemical potential is still very limited due to the fermion sign problem. Until now lattice calculations cannot provide insights on the existence of a poss...
